Student Organization for Latin American Studies – SIN FRONTERAS POSTER CONTEST Hello, We are the Student Organization for Latin American Studies (SOLAS) at the University of New Mexico. Our mission to increase awareness about Latin American issues and cultural happenings through the facilitation of intellectual dialogue by engaging in various events in both our community and university. Each year we hold a free Latino film festival at the Guild on Central in Nob Hill, called Sin Fronteras- a student organized event devoted to films about Latin America and by Latin American filmmakers. This year we are holding a poster making contest for our Sin Fronteras film festival. As we want to highlight young local artists, this contest is only open to high school students in the Albuquerque area. I am writing to ask you if you could inform your class and other students of possible interest and encourage them to enter to win! Poster Guidelines: The poster’s theme is building bridges. The poster must contain: · the festival’s name, Sin Fronteras, · mention that it is a Latin American and Latino film festival · the festival’s dates, March 23rd-25th · its location at The Guild Cinema · our website, solasunm.org. · The poster will be 11X17 inches. Prizes: First place winner will receive $100 and $50 gift card to a local Albuquerque establishment. Second and third place winners will receive $50 worth in gift cards each to local Albuquerque establishments. The winning poster will be used in our promotion, and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will be displayed at the Guild during movie screenings. How to Submit a Poster: E-mail your poster to both SOLAS Vice President Kalyn Finnell at kmfinnell@unm.edu and solas@unm.edu. In the e-mail Include your name, grade, and what high school you attend. The files should be either a JPEG or a PDF document. We are accepting hand drawn and/or computer work. Collages, pencil, ink, digital, or a combination are all accepted.
